My Hudson Valley Yarn Crawl

The Hudson Valley Yarn Crawl was scheduled for the weekend of March 29th  30th.
There were many, many yarn shops participating throughout the Hudson Valley Region.
Its a very big region so I designed my own abbreviated version from the list of participants.

Starting out from West Ulster County, we headed over the Rhinecliff Bridge to Duchess County.
Our first stop was the town of Rhinebeck and
The Knitting Garage at STICKLES on East Market Street.
I snatched the lovely green Tosh yarn there and got this great goodie bag.

Next up, traveling north, was Fiddlehead Farms on Cedar Heights.
I bought this very soft alpaca roving and a dozen duck eggs.
Duck eggs have the largest yolk - yum for sunny side and over easy.

We continued north toward Red Hook, also in Duchess County.
Stopping by Hudson Valley Sheep & Wool Co. on Yantz Road.
A very nice selection of minimally processed yarns and they carry Bartlett yarns.

Then into Red Hook for 2 stops -
Midnight Merinos has a booth at the Antique Annex,
where I picked up a few old doily crochet patterns.

Living Eden has a beautiful yarn room.
Heck the whole store is beautiful and features humane products.

From here we went back over the Rhinecliff Bridge to Saugerties for our last 2 picks.
First was The Perfect Blend Yarn & Tea Shop where I got my first skein of Berroco self stripping yarn and a cute little knitting notes book as a bonus.

Our last stop was Pinewoods Farm Wool Shop.
I picked up my first skein of "unscoured".
Its undyed and needs to be soaked to bloom, so the yarn seems thinner then it will be after it is dyed.
The store also has a wall of brilliantly dyed fiber ready to be spun.

I'm delighted and grateful to have so many wonderful yarn shops in my neck of the woods
and that I had the chance to visit some of them and see all the great goodies each one has to offer.  The internet is nice but yarn therapy requires actually touching and crawling through yarn!
