Annie & Co.

I had this Birthday gift certificate for Annie & Co burning a hole in my bag since I received it in August.  Last Thursday I jumped on the subway and in 3 stops and a few walking blocks later I was in wool fume heaven with my favorite LYS person Alyssa.

Good thing she was there too because I wanted cotton.  I've never bought cotton for something other then house stuff and wasn't sure if it would make a good hat. I was afraid that the cotton wouldn't have enough spring if I made a lacey summer beret. Alyssa suggested I do the brim with elastic in a coordinating color.  Great idea!

I also wanted to make myself a lacey summer cardigan in a fine gauge cotton.  I found a nice light ice blue in cotton by Araucania.  Its sock weight - so I may not get this one finished until the end  of this summer (or maybe next).  I have a design in my head for it.  I'll show it to you - when it works out.  Not if but when - I am determined.

While I was there I also perused the sale section.  Oh what a section it was - everything in it was 40% off!  I am on a budget so I had to choose carefully which was not an easy feat considering all the good stuff to choose from.  I picked 2 skeins of Cashmere (yes for 40% off).

I also fell in love with this red lace weight yarn - I feel a red lace triangle coming on some day and I want to be prepared.

All the wool fumes were so intoxicating that I walked home to 28th Street from 92nd.  And then I sat down to knit.
